Solent Spotlight Dance Festival is a ONE DAY only competition for solo dancers.

There are no minimum or maximum number of dances that must be entered, but to be considered for either the overall Stage or Classical Solo award winner in their age group a dancer MUST compete in at least 3 genres of dance within either the Stage or Classical section.

Our sections available to enter are:
​
STAGE - Modern Jazz / Lyrical / Musical Theatre / Acro
CLASSICAL - Ballet / Character / Global Dance / Greek
​
Dancers who compete in three or more classes within either the Stage or Classical categories will be eligible for the Overall Winner award in their age group.
​
The marks awarded for each competitor’s dances will be added together, and the dancer with the highest total score will be declared the winner. If a dancer performs in more than three classes within a category, only their three highest scores will be counted toward the total.

Each competitor will receive a certificate and feedback from a professional adjudicator and 1st, 2nd and 3rd medal places will still be awarded for each class as usual.
​
Adjudication will take place at the end of the morning or evening session with all medal places and overall winners announced. There will be no adjudication after each class.
Our Mini and Junior age groups will take place in the morning and our Inter and Senior dancers will be in the afternoon. Ages are taken from 1st July 2026. Age groups are the same as our Novice and Open festival with the exception that for this event Pre-Juniors will be called Minis.

Entry fees are £8 per solo.
​
Due to limited time constraints of a one day festival we have had to cap the number of entries on our Modern Jazz and Musical Theatre classes. If other classes are not full we will look to re-open entries on these where we can.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a Tap section due to the floor surface.

Entry is via the Play and Perform platform as usual, please enter the syllabus for the age group you will be entering.
